Of course being pregnant is something we are beautifully designed for but for some the adjustments for our bodies and/or minds can be more difficult than others.
You will see below the kinds of things that hypnotherapy can help with so that you can have the most positive experience possible for you. However, it is also lovely to know that by helping yourself you are also enhancing your baby’s experience and when mum has a sense of well being during her pregnancy this is transferred to the baby in the form of endorphins. What you are learning will also help with pre-natal bonding and there is evidence that shows that babies whose mums have used hypnosis during their pregnancy are more likely to have calmer babies who are more sociable and are better sleepers. |

Support during the first trimester
There are many advantages to the use of hypnosis in early pregnancy, as it can not only in most cases guarantee a good outcome at birth but will allay most of the normal aches, discomforts and anxieties.
One of the first problems during pregnancy, is the onset of morning sickness (though in some cases this does not just happen in the morning but can last all day and well into the evening and throughout the night).
There are many theories about the cause of morning sickness but it appears to be a combination of the hormonal, physical and emotional changes taking place in your body. Whatever the cause, the control centre for the production of hormones, emotions and physical changes is within our own body, and it is the subconscious part of our mind which manages and effects theses changes. Therefore, we can use hypnosis in early pregnancy, in most cases through one or two sessions, to reduce the feelings of nausea and sickness by given suggestions to relax and to release any stresses and tensions. An mp3 will also be provided for you to practise with at home.
The work carried out during the sessions to reduce feelings of nausea and sickness tend to also removes the extreme tiredness you may experience. This can therefore be covered during these sessions. If you are not experiencing any sickness a one off session, together with an mp3 to practice with at home, will enable you to gain relief from these feelings of tiredness.
Unfortunately for a small percentage of pregnant women they can experience unrelenting, excessive pregnancy-related nausea and/or vomiting known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). This can prevent adequate intake of food and fluids leading to severe dehydration and other complications. For this reason HG is generally treated as a medical emergency however, hypnotherapy can certainly help to reduce the symptoms and work with whatever additional support you are receiving.
Support during the second trimester
This is the stage of your pregnancy in which women tend to enjoy the most. Now is the ideal time to attend the HypnoBirthing® antenatal classes. Support during the third trimester The 3rd trimester can bring with it many minor ailments but if you experience any of them they can be the most troublesome. Heartburn, backache, swollen feet & legs, high blood pressure, headaches, fluctuations in temperature, aching joints & aching of the breasts quite often are due to the increased weight as the baby grows. All of these ailments can be controlled by hypnosis and in most cases removed completely where hypnosis has been used in early pregnancy, as by now you will be quite adept at achieving the relaxed trance state with the ability to produce self analgesia if needed (with restrictions). How can I stop myself worrying so much? Many women experience emotional highs and lows during their pregnancy and this can be caused by many things. During your first session I will work with you to identify all fears, anxieties and tensions relating to your past experiences, current pregnancy and thoughts around childbirth and becoming a parent. This information is then used to create an individual programme for you. For many women 2 sessions is sufficient to enable them to begin enjoying their pregnancy. However, there is sometimes a need for follow up sessions which will be discussed with you at the time.
An excellent follow up to these sessions is to attend the HypnoBirthing® antenatal classes.
