What is the difference between these sessions and the HypnoBirthing® programme?
It important to note that the HypnoBirthing® course is a complete antenatal programme incorporating such other topics as preparation of the body and prenatal bonding. These private hypnotherapy sessions are based on your requirements and designed to suit your own particular needs and can be attended by just you or together with your partner.
What do these sessions involve?
These sessions are flexible and therefore specific treatment will be dependant on your own unique needs. For example I can help:
¨ Explore your current beliefs about birth and help you make changes as required
¨ Identify negative thought patterns and help structure new positive thoughts regarding birth
¨ Release any negative emotions or fears that you may have regarding childbirth
¨ Build your confidence in order to feel more positive about the birth of your baby
¨ Build your partners confidence with regards to their role during you labour and birth
Is there any support outside of my sessions?
You will be given:
¨ mp3s to support your hypnotherapy sessions for use at home
¨ Telephone and/or email support up until the birth of your baby for advice and assistance
¨ Free attendance at the monthly Hyp ‘n Happening Mums and Mums-to-be group held on the second Monday of each month
Does it matter how many weeks pregnant I am?
Mums-to-be have attended these private hypnosis sessions as late as 38 weeks , so within reason, no! However, attending sessions earlier in your pregnancy enables you to be more relaxed and positive and actually look forward to your baby’s birth.
How many sessions will I need and where are they held?
The number of sessions will be dependant upon your needs and requirements and will be discussed with you on enquiry. All sessions are held in the relaxed comfortable atmosphere of my home in Sidcup.

“This is just to let you know that our son, Valentine Izon-ekiye Clarke, was born on 4 December at 9.40 am. He weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces. The birth was an AMAZING empowering experience - the slow breathing enabled me to reach 10 centimetres so calmly that the midwives had no idea how advanced I was (you've heard that sentence before, I'm sure). It was also wonderful being able to adopt several different positions like the polar bear, standing, sitting on the loo. I only felt intense pressure when the baby's head was pressing down on the fore waters and I wasn't ready to breathe the baby down but wasn't quite sure how to breathe any more. I asked for gas and air which took some time to arrive and then my waters broke spectacularly all over the floor (I was standing at the time). It was at this stage the midwives realised that baby was more than ready to meet the world. Twenty minutes later, Valentine arrived. The whole event was 8 and a half hours from start to finish. As we had requested a midwife who was into natural birth, my birth plan was completely respected. They even let me birth the placenta naturally (they call it a physiological third stage) which is unheard of in Darenth Valley. Whilst I had not been allowed to give birth in a pool or the midwife-led unit (because of fibroids), they transferred me to the latter as soon as I'd had my bath. It was wonderful - so quiet and relaxing. I'd strongly recommend it.”
