A cup of decaf anyone!
I will soon be adding a couples of audio clips and videos of mums sharing their birth stories in order for you see what you can expect to hear when you come along to the Tums 2 Mums Monthly Hyp ‘n Happening mums and mums-to-be Group (you can read more on the Birth Stories page). It is a wonderful place for mums-to-be to build confidence in their abilities to birth their babies in a calm, comfortable way. The benefits are there for the mums also though because many Hypnomummies find it difficult to share a positive story of birth amongst other groups of women who haven’t had such a good experience themselves. I found this myself when I had Evan that others didn’t always seem to want to listen and it made me feel like I was showing off. This made me feel sad on two levels, 1) as a new mum so excited by the birth or her baby and 2) as a hypnotherapist specialising in birth knowing that it was possible to have a calm, comfortable experience.
I never expected this to become a mums group though as when I set it up it was meant for mums-to-be to come and talk about their practice and preparations after their course had finished. I had hoped mums would want to come back and share their birth stories but I never imagined that they would want to keep on coming. Because of this it is more informal than I had planned but in turn offers so much more as it enables like-minded women to support each other and make some good friends along the way - it is fantastic to see and be a part of.
For anyone wondering whether attending a course or sessions with me is the right choice it is also a great opportunity to find out from others what they think. It is lovely for me to hear women sharing their experiences of working with me at Tums 2 Mums and ‘telling’ others that they really must attend.
The Hyp ‘n Happening group is held on the first Monday of each month 10:00 am to 11:30 am. For those thinking that they will have to wait until they go on maternity leave to attend you may be interested to know that a midwife told one of my clients that she saw no reason why these groups could not be considered part of their antenatal classes.
Breastfeeding session
I am very proud to announce that Alex Hardy who is a trained Doula will be offering a breastfeeding session at the end of each Hyp ‘n Happening Group. When I send out the monthly invite I will ask if you would like to attend this session which is being offered at a very reasonable £12.00. Included in the price will be a useful handout written by Alex and 2 x mp3s (Hypno 4 Breastfeeding Confidence and Breastfeeding Affirmations) which have been written and recorded by me. The set of mp3s alone sell for £12.00 and so I hope you will see this as another great service for my Tums 2 Mums clients.
For anyone requiring more in depth support with their breastfeeding I can strongly recommend Breast 4 Baby.
